Happy New Year Friends!
We’re back at zero ground and I, for one, am super excited! I’ve got plans, oh baby, do I have plans. More than that, I’m feeling energized and ready to dive in! Let’s get our hands dirty, shall we?
A few months ago my husband, Ed was telling me that one of his buddies announced on Facebook that he had a goal to drop 50 lbs. He wanted everyone in his life to know so that he could share his ups and downs and hopefully, get invaluable support to keep at the hard work and reach his goal. He literally put himself on blast in front of the world.
So, here’s me, putting me on blast, peeps. I’m putting it out there and I hope you will too!
My top 12 New Year’s Resolutions 2013:
1. FINISH THE MOTHER ONCE AND FOR ALL! Please read back to see where I’m at with this and seriously, hurl me over the goal line.
2. While I’m at it, I’ll finish up the whole dining room make-over.
3. Clean out the garage and organize my tools. Life seems like a bowl of cherries when everything is in it’s place… I believe this, of course, because I’ve yet to experience such a dreamy existence.
4. Stencil the family room wall in Summer Palace. You can look back here to see how I created the stencil and I’ll be back to show you exactly how to cut it and then apply it. Fun, fun!
5. Paint the exterior of the house… Once I figure out what colors to go with, it’s on like Donkey Kong!
6. Once the paint is all purdy, I’m just going to have to update the entryway. Obvs.
7. Participate in the next 6 week challenge and redo (what we call) The Pool Bathroom. This time around, I pinky swear that I’m going to finish!!
8. Inject personality into the hallway. I’ve got some fun projects planned!! (Yes, you must say that in your opera voice. I just did.)
9. Build some picture ledges for the family room wall. A rotating gallery… so perfect for my noncommittal family.
10. A sprucing of the laundry room is definitely in order. I’d love to paint, reorganize, add some tile and get a new counter… am I over-extending myself already?! At the very least, I’ll paint it a new happy color.
11. Get the floors in the house professionally cleaned and sealed. If you love something, take care of it!! And brazilian cherry, I do love you.
12. Modernize the fireplace with a new flame source, glass and spheres. Kinda like this… maybe?…
Now I just need to roll up my sleeves and get this party started. Sounds too easy? Yeah, it does… then again, sometimes it is just that easy… we just need to jump in and do it.
What about you? Any projects that have made it to your new year’s resolutions list??
Email me and we can keep each other on course!
I couldn’t resist!
HA!
Happy Creating, Jessica
Hi Jessica! I’m old time high school friends with your hubby. I just had to leave you a post to comment on how amazingly inspirational I think you are, though we’ve never even met! I, too, put myself on blast last fall to get fit and was quite successful up until I broke my feet (yes, I said it, plural–feet). Wishing you the same success, minus the broken feet!
Hi Cristina! Thank you so much for the support! I can’t believe what happened to you… how did that happen?!? But I applaud you too for the effort – it’s not always easy, but I think it’s worth it to put in just a little bit more than you think you can every day. Hopefully you’ll check in more, I’d love to keep chatting! You must be learning some new things, having to keep off your feet these days!!
