Living and the Living Room

Hi Friends and Pilgrims!

Wait, do we even say that anymore?!?  I know I’m so in for an awakening when the kids start learning this stuff in school.  Like, I know Columbus is the enemy- I’m hip to that – but are the Pilgrims the enemy too??  Anyhoo, however you’re celebrating this fun week I hope it is with lots of delicious food and a few fun stories you can stash in the ol’ memory bank… I think we’ve all had one or two holidays that are pretty legendary.

One year, I had an aunt hopped up on pain meds.  Oh yes.  It was amazing.

And even though I’ve got turkey on the brain, I’ve also been thinking about this here room.   We call it the living room, even though we rarely do any kind of living in it.  It’s the first room you see when entering the front door so it ain’t a bad room, it just needs a bit of fluffing or tlc or something.  You know?  Do you have a room like this?

I actually don’t dislike this room at. all.  It just seems a little moody.  It’s like the premenstral daughter that I never had.  It’s all happy one minute and then hiding some secret boyfriend from me the next.

I completely attribute this to the paint color.  It was pretty fabulous 9 years ago when we picked it and everything was all muted out, but now I’m kinda ready for something new.

And by new I totally mean semi-new.  New paint, yes, but I’m planning on keeping a BUNCH of stuff in here.

I did say I liked the room didn’t I?!  The couch, from HD Buttercup, stays since it is like a virgin – I think I can count the number of butts that have been on it with one hand.  The woven chairs are California cool, for sure, and were a great buy from a Santa Barbara store that I can’t remember the name.  The mongolian fur pillows will most certainly be relocated.  The art piece above the sofa also stays, it’s from Indonesia and both my husband and I love it.  We also love the coffee table so she’s a keeper too (also from HD Buttercup).  And of course, I’m going to keep my lotus wood sculpture in here – it doesn’t photograph well, but believe me when I say it’s pretty striking.

Everything else?  Well, they’re up for debate…

Even with all the big pieces staying, I know this room will look and more importantly feel completely different.

Where’s my head at?  Let’s just say I’m feeling a bit like this….

I want to brighten it up with white walls and more color.  Maybe here is where I can finally indulge my love of pillows!?!  I just love the look of collected glamour, with some raw wood and texture mixed in.  Oh, and some curtains and greenery!!

This is going to be good.
