Duvet; It’s French for Expensive

We live in a modern world with an insane amount of choices. But when it comes to bedding, I’m pretty sure we all want the same things; Quality workmanship with hand-stitched details, gorgeous, hard-to-find fabrics that are both unique and extremely durable, which can be washed in our own home without fear of shrinking, wrinkling or change of any kind, organic, sustainable, not made by children in a 3rd world country, stain resistant, soft, comfortable, covetable, at least a million thread count AND affordable.

Yes, affordable. As in, I’m not crying like a little school girl because my “Freebok” knock-offs were just called pedestrian. True Story.

I want a duvet that’s so good, I’m happily handing over my hard earned bills. Take my money!! I want that DUVET!! Is that wrong of me to want so much?

Turns out, it kinda is. Man, it ain’t easy to find a duvet that not only looks fabulous, but feels fabulous from every angle. But here are a few that I’m contemplating… these just about check off every box. And they may, (just may) make me want to switch out the duvet I’ve had on my bed since I got married. Yup, I’ve had that sucker for almost 9 years and it still looks good. Quality!! Gots to have it.

You can see that I want something neutral, but with texture. I figure I can add in fun elements with pillows and a quilt.

Just when y’all thought baseball season would be ruining my thrifting game, well it hasn’t… not entirely at least.

An addict will find a way. Amiright?!

So, here are some cool things I’ve spotted in my last few jaunts around town at thrift stores…. Anything fun, you’ve picked up lately??

Use Brasso if you’re not an asso

HI!!

Almost weekly I try new products. Usually, the stuff gets the job done, but it’s pretty lack-luster; meaning, I’m not all that impressed. Not so with this stuff. THIS STUFF IS AWESOME. This stuff is the opposite of lack-luster… It’s luster inducing. (Please don’t stop reading, I know that was totally lame.)

In fact, where the ef has Brasso been hiding? Apparently in the cleaning aisle at Lowes. Go figure.

Brasso, you are only $2.98 but you are worth at least a dollar more. Brasso, I really like you. Like, I like you A LOT.

Yes, you may kill a good percentage of your brain cells using this stuff (it stinks like a mutha) but who needs smarts them anywayz. (Shit) BUT you do want your brassy treasures shiny, doncha?! It’s like beauty – there are prices to be paid.

DAMN GINA!

It wasn’t fun. And, yes, it took foooreeevverr. But shoot, Girl be lookin’ good.

Finding Brasso came at the perfect time. My mom had just given me this piggy bank that she found at an estate sale. She got it for $5, which was an amazing score! The thing weighs about 10 pounds. But this little piggy wasn’t feeling very good about itself.

Poor little thing, had a complex about it’s multiple personalities – the two different patinas weren’t doing it any favors. Who was going to want to feed this piggy lots of money?

After about an hour, seriously AN HOUR, later, this bank is now something Kanye would would put hundies into.

It’s so purdy.

Anyway. What’s all this got to do with you? Well, all I’m trying to say is that maybe you shouldn’t pass up on a dirty brass piece…maybe, just maybe, you will find a treasure. And then you can brag to all your friends on what great vision you have and how you can spot a diamond in the rough. Oh wait, that’s their line.

Anyway. Brass is having a big moment. And as my twins like to tell me, it has a bad word in it. Can you even believe the intelligence going on here?! I mean they’re only 4. I’m so lucky.

Anyway. Add this little bottle to your stash of tricks. It’s muy good.
