Makeover Your Gate!

Well HELLO there!!

Wanna makeover something?  What about your backyard gate?!?  That’s exactly what I did and I’ll show you the steps I took to go from this little eye sore….

IMG_3019To THIS!!

IMG_3050 copyMuch, much more welcoming!!  The bamboo gate was a “problem fixer” 9 years ago when we originally moved in.  The dogs kept squeezing through the wrought iron gate, so we thought, yes, let’s put a panel of bamboo and zip tie it in place.  Easy!

And it worked, for a minute.  We went through our fair share of zip ties, but that solution has done the trick.  Now the problem?  It just looked pretty tired.  Neglected.  Oh, and it was dragging on the floor… so sad. Continue Reading

Now Go to Bed!

YES!!

The bed is in and it’s just about ready for some serious business!!  Tell me this isn’t the coolest bed for 3 little boys?!  No, wait.  Tell me it is the coolest.  Please.  I’m so exhausted from sanding, painting, nailing that a few “good girl” pats on the back would do the opposite of harm right about now.

I kid.  (Kind of)  I’m actually so thrilled with how it’s all coming together.  I say coming together because although the hard part is done there are still a few details that need to be addressed. I want to make some bedside shelves with a light, so that is certainly on the agenda.  Oh, and bedding.  Ya, that’s gotta happen soon too.

As for the little playhouse area, I’m kinda torn on what I want to do in there.  Should it be more of a reading nook (that my boys will probably just fight over) or like a Lego extravaganza (that may or may not contain the Lego mass that is my daily struggle).  Nevertheless, a cute rug, maybe some seating, art… stuff like that… is going to happen…. once that lightning idea strikes me. Shiny and New!

And seriously, almost finished.

But the hard part is over… well, for the painters that is!  Now I need to get my butt in gear and finish up.  But at least I can show you where I’m at right now with the exterior!!

Did you notice that tiny peak of color on the ceiling?  I wanted something that was a fun surprise for our mailman guests!  We’re a young family, I HAD to interject some color!  It’s not a favorite of Ed’s but oh well, I love it!!  (I had the color custom mixed at Dunn Edwards.)IMG_2923

Isn’t this the cutest doorbell that you’ve ever seen?!  I had to wait a few months for it to come back into stock, but so worth it!  Check out the options I looked at here and get all the details.IMG_2925

Before – It was just bad.

IMG_0115 IMG_0116Now those garage doors look brand new!

IMG_2939If you are in the LA area and looking for a painter send me a message and I will get you the details – They were fabulous to work with!!

IMG_2943 IMG_2945I’m just so thrilled with how everything turned out.  It was an ordeal for about 3 weeks, but in the end, it was one of the least stressful updates we’ve done!

**Exterior color used was Benjamin Moore’s Briarwood translated into a custom color at Dunn Edwards into their Evershield flat paint.  The paint looks amazing!  It coated the stucco fabulously!
