Moroccan Inspired Baby Shower Invitations!

Hi there friends!

Remember how I told you that my friend Yaso was having a baby?  That was a long time ago, I realize, and said baby is now out in the world and even smiling, cooing and just being all around cute!  But before all that goodness, there was a shower (which I got very few pictures of – DOH!) and there were invitations.

My crazy friend didn’t want to find out the gender of the baby before hand – like, HOW CAN YOU RESIST?!  Not me.  Oh, not me.  I wanted to know.  No.  I needed to know!!  Since I had no clue to the gender, there would be no rainbow unicorn or space cowboy themed shower.  (Although, dang, those two would be amaze-ball ideas, right?!?)  So I came up with the very original, (not), Moroccan theme idea.  It’s been done soooo many times, and VERY well, I might add, but I knew that I could really get colorful, keep it fun and inject one of my friend’s favorite animals, the peacock, into the mix!!

Enter my vision for the invitation – A flying peacock carrying a baby.  There should totally be a picture like that on-line.  Everything’s on-line.

Not this, you guys.

So I drew something myself, using inspiration from the ol’ faithful baby deliverer, the stork.  Here’s what I came up with.

While I was working on figuring out this, I was also learning how to use my new Cricut.  Honestly, uploading the peacock and cutting her out in the design space was fairly painless.  Winning!

I found this great paper and used that to just go crazy with color and pattern – It’s like an explosion of prints!

The trick to making the card, is to add an inch to the length and make an accordion pocket like the photo above.  In the fold you’ll put in the peacock, which I mounted on a clear plastic cut-out (from a strawberry container!!).

When you open the card, there is a SURPRISE!!  Do you see how that peacock is literally flying in the air?!

It’s damn near impossible to find double-sided glitter paper, so I used glitter from a spray can, and glued on a gem for the eye.

The rest was pretty straightforward, just a bunch of gluing!  I used textured foam for the front and sprayed those too.  Why not?

Just a fun idea you can use to create a special card!!  And I love the Cricut – sometimes it gives me a small heart attack, but overall, I’m very happy!

Santa Baby – 2016

Happy Holidays!!

Ya going crazy yet?!  I can’t believe how good my shopping list is looking this early in the game.  Wow.  I think I might actually be learning from the frantic finish the last 10 years.  But truth be told, holiday shopping is SOOOOOOO hard for me.  Sadly, I just keep buying myself stuff.  And y’all know I have zero self control when it comes to a $10 sweater.  $10 DOLLA, HOLLA!  And yet, will all those fun goodies there are still plenty of things on my Santa list.

Check it out!

Nike Running Shoes, Match Safe, Glass Water Bottle, Oscillating Tool Kit, Can’t Adult Today Sweatshirt, Flatware for 5, Pin Set

You guys, that match keeper!  I found one roaming an antique store with the hubs.  Mine is a bit older, but shoot, it’s super cute!!  And those Nike shoes are running shoes.  You can wear them to the gym?!  Not like I would, but hey, who can resist a two-fer?  I have been dreaming of new flatware for about 3 years now and I LOVE this set.

Collared Peplum Top, Glass Dish with Lid, Dyson Air purifier, heater and fan, Copper KitchenAid, Nars Blush/Bronzer, Set of 6 Knobs, Persian Runner

The knobs are gorgeous – I may just need to pop those right into my cart – wink!  But the piece I’m drooling over?  That Dyson air purifier –  I WANT ONE.  You know how much I love Dyson stuff, so eventually my pretty, you will be mine.  The peplum looks perfect for that office holiday shindig and the glass dish make my party loving soul happy.

Invisibobble Hair Ring, Shearling Clog, Coffee Card, Vortice Chandelier, Fondue Set, Apple Purse, Amazon Echo Dot

Are you judging my Birkenstock pick right now?  Let me explain… there was this mom (don’t all stories start like this?), who is very chic and very cool and would wear these clogs with jeans, a button up AND SOCKS ON to drop her son off at the baseball field.  Seriously, they looked so good.  I may not go to her country club (or any country club) but I can sure steal that look!!

If you check out nothing else, please see Shop Sapling Press for the coffee card!!  Their stuff is so good and guaranteed to make you LOFL!  It was hard to pick a favorite, but damn, if that coffee quote ain’t me, I don’t know what is!

I may need to frame it.

Baby Fever Baby Shower!

Hi-ya!

Finally!  Yezzzz!!

IMGP1502

That’s right, pictures of Tricia’s 70’s inspired, disco-licious baby shower!  Here we are snuggling it up before operation sleepless nights and never-ending laundry take over.  Delivery of the package is set for Jan. 28th.  I. can’t. wait.

But back to the partay.  Who doesn’t love a disco ball?  Like, no one ever, in the history of the world.

Each setting had a champagne flute, silver picture frame with a message and baby photo (if the guest sent me one), silverware, coaster, bowl and a linen napkin folded into a rose.  And of course disco balls!  Yes, we did give everyone a fork but for some reason we forgot one in this photo!  But were we already sipping champagne??  Of course we were!!  Priorities people.

Pink champagne?  Check!  Fun cocktails?  Check!  Something for baby mama to drink?  Double check!!

The drink hit of the event?  The El Salvadorian Black Russian with a hit of coffee!  My friend is El Salvadorian (obv’s) and her hubby is Nigerian and Russian … Can I get an “Ooohhhhh?”  So I made a hot cocoa with cinnamon and Kahlua and put them into silver thermos like they have at a diner.  But with a hit of coffee the drink was seriously drool worthy.  Yum-mmy.

My girlfriend, Bethanie, was incredible!  She brought all the desserts which looked too cute to eat!  Here she is striking a groovy pose!

Want to get your guests involved?  Here we set up a quilting station so each special person could write a message or draw something that will soon become a baby blanket.

Overall, I’d say it was a very fun time had by all!  I prayed to the weather gods, and was blessed with sunshine throughout the outdoor party in December.  Yes, I know I am a lucky girl… but also one with a few outdoor heaters as back-ups.  Still, it was perfect outside and that made it sooooo much nicer.

Most importantly though, I believe Tricia had a great time and she certainly made out with major baby loot!  Oh, and some of the freaking cutest clothes ever!!

Hope ya enjoyed!!
