Howdy there!
I’m back at ya with another color crush! This photo of a dining room decorated by Suzanne Kasler stopped me in my tracks.
Of course, I devoured the article which gave no details to the paint color… they called it turquoise. As if?! Flipped to the details at the back and nada again. Waaaa!
After digging on the Veranda website I was able to find out that the color used is Seven Lakes by Glidden Paint. Suzanne used the color as a base and then layered a clear lacquer on top to give it that crazy sheen. Lightbulb! You can put lacquer over paint?!?! I have seriously asked 3 different paint stores this exact question only to get puzzled looks of why I would want to do that and shakes of the head. HAHA suckers! The Secret Is Out!
I love how she used this color in the dining room because it feels sophisticated, yet screams great party atmosphere. I imagine myself there, clinking champagne glasses and saying, “these are the best oysters I’ve ever had.”
And because my mind works this way, what came first, the walls or the settee fabric? Suzanne, I really need to know this. I hope you’re reading.
So, what can the rest of us do with Seven Lakes? I know it’s not a color that everyone would paint their rooms in, but (hopefully) we can agree that it’s a show stopping color. Maybe try it as a front door color, accent wall or in accessories for a similar punch.
Just a few ideas for you to try in your own space!
What do you think? Do you like the color too? I keep trying to find a place for it!! We’ll see!
Happy Creating! Tootles! Jessica
