Inspired by Baby Beau

Hi-Ya!

I’m am still on my super high, happy dance party strut from all the positive feedback I received on my bathroom.

You guys.  It’s amazing.  And… It’s totally addicting.

So, with a little extra pep in my step I’m ready to embark on my next challenge!  And what should that be, you ask?  Well, only a very, very important room for a very, very important person in my life…. actually, make that two people; my supermom BFF Viviana and her 3rd youngest, Beau.

Viv asked me a few weeks ago to help her organize her ideas and help with a vision for little Beau’s space.  Uh, ya I want to help with that!  Me wants to help with that very much, please.

Now, she thinks that our conversation went in one ear and out the other, (Hey, I had to finish up that darn bathroom!) so I hope she is excited to see that I’ve done my duty to bring her, not one, but TWO super cute, boyishly imaginative inspiration boards that can grow with him or even (’cause ya never know) become a girl’s room in the future with minimal changes.

INSPIRATION: Beau’s name of course!!  I had to incorporate a bow tie theme!!  Fresh color choices that would make a smaller space feel bigger and some architectural details with molding and drapery for privacy and interest.

Option 1 – Aqua Fox

OB-Beau's Bow Tie Option

1.Wall Color – Horizon, Benjamin Moore, 2.Ceiling Color – Mexicali, Benjamin Moore, 3.Striped, Argyle and Fox fabric – Fabric.com, Brown pin-stripe rug – Ikea

Option 2 – Green FormalOB-Beau's Bow Tie Option2

1.Wall Color – Horizon, Benjamin Moore, 2.Ceiling Color – Perennial, BM, 3. Argyle and Bow Tie fabric – Fabric.com, 4.Green/White Dhurrie – World Market

I’m in love with the idea of a neutral wall, like a light gray, and a bright poppy ceiling.  This would really make the space feel larger and more open.  Not to mention, way cool!

A bunch of fun details that go with either choice…

Awesome drapery to span a wall of windows, trimmed in gray perhaps.  And I’d recommend hidden roller or roman shades under the valance to cover each window individually for lots of light control.

This drapery option is a little bit more youthful – I like it too!!

Lighting!!  Some pendant choices I’m totally digging…

Paper Pendant – Imagine we give each family member a sheet to fill out with a wish or prayer for little Beau!  I love how this light fixture can evolve into whatever your child is into!

Sputnik in an awesome color!  It’s like a no-brainer, people.  Everyone loves these – even babies.  Multiple colors available.

Decorating the Walls…

Behind the crib, I think these would be fabulous.  Maybe in charcoal and white?  With a few “CreativeWe” modifications, of course!

Bow Tie Decals

I’d love to keep embellishing that wall behind the crib with custom thought and speech bubbles cut out of wood and painted in chalkboard paint!  We could have Viviana’s older kids come up with what they think their baby brother is thinking!

Art, is always tough, but I’m inspired by this guy… I have a few ideas, but I want to see if I’m headed in the right direction.

This is adorable!  And goes with the smarty-pants schoolboy look…

Obviously there are bunch of other details to fill-in, but that can all be sourced once we get the color palette and design direction locked down.

What do you think?!

I think all my boys would be in love with this room!

Anything you’d recommend to the mix?  I’d truly love to hear your suggestions!

Happy Creating!  Jessica

  1. How funny Jess! I just bought the exact same fox and houndstooth fabric by Robert Kaufman, for my son. It is absolutely adorable! I also bought the coordinating fabrics, the bow ties, which you have pictured, and the glasses with houndstooth. Have fun with these patterns! 🙂

    1. That’s wild! Great minds think alike, right?! What are you going to make with them? I’d be so curious to see – please share!! And thank you so much for reading! That’s just so sweet of you.

      1. Yes, definitely! 😉 I’m making a blanket and if I have left over fabric (which I probably will have since I went a little overboard on buying these fabrics, lol. I just fell in love, what can I say?) maybe a bib or something else creative. Haven’t quite decided. I’ll take a pic when I’m done.

        1. So I finally have my blanket done! I wanted to post a pic here but don’t think I can. I’ll see if I could send it via email. 🙂

  2. Lady! You have outdone yourself yet again. I love these ideas! Thank you for doing this for me and my little mister Beau! Can’t wait to implement these ideas … with your help hopefully, you know, in all of your spare time! I love you my talented friend!
