It’s my birthday and…

So, last week was my birthday and it was kinda a big one.

35.

I’m not old per se, but I’m not exactly young either. I’m thinking that’s why this number feels a bit different than say 33 or 34… not a bad different, just well, different. Like I should be doing those things I said I would do for my health. My gosh, that sounds like something an old person would say!!

With that in mind I decided that I would VOW to do two things every morning.

1. First thing, drink a tall glass of water. I wake up thirsty and then what do I do? Drink coffee – no bueno.

2. Wear a “real” sunscreen everyday. (Apparently, products with SPF aren’t good enough?!?! Then why do they make the bloody stuff?!?!)

And so far, so good!!

To treat myself, I also went out and bought what any 35 year old should have….a kick ass skin serum.

Caudalie Elixir Now, I don’t know if this works (it’s only been a week) but omg, I lllooovveee the smell and the feel of it. Curious what a dry oil feels like? It really is a dry-oil. I mean, it’s pretty amazing.

And wondering what my fabulous boys got for me? Well, they nailed it. I’m SO EXCITED!

I can’t wait to curl up in here, watch the boys swim and read a book. Like a REAL book. Like I used to. And relax. (My blood pressure just went down dreaming about it!)

It’s on back order, but I will share details as soon as it’s in my powerful grip.

And even though I got some fab-u stuff, yes, there were a few items still on my bday wish list. Maybe next year? Or maybe one of you will snag up one of these?

White S Chair; I think these would work well at my breakfast table now that we don’t have enough chairs for the whole crew, Bare Minerals; a glowing complexion? Yes, please, GM Yoga Meltdown; one of my mom GF’s says this video is amazing. I should just buy the damn thing right now for $8!!, Gaetano Petite Chandelier; perfect for my closet!, Paint brushes; Can’t get enough of these!, Router; would really round out my tool arsenal, Mobile; SO curious about this – what do you think?, Cricut machine; Then I could make you some decals, wouldn’t that be cool?, Vitamix; because I could make one big batch for all the boys instead of 2-3.

He Said, She Said – Reclining Sofa

Hi there!

Recently I was chatting with my girlfriend, Yaso (you may remember her from the bridal shower post) about a few furniture pieces she was looking to score for her new home. Not only is she recently married, but she just bought the most gorgeous home in Santa Monica. Obviously, I’m putting myself all up in the mix because I just have to hear about every single detail. It’s a sickness.

Anyway, she needs a new sofa/sectional/something and said that her husband wanted a recliner.

Horror. HORROR. I tell you.

Here is what I’m picturing

Omg, it’s just so bad. So bad.

Of course, I shrug and say, “Well, you said no, right?” (Make that “H” to the “ell” to the No.)

And here’s the kicker. She said (I’m still in shock) yes.

H TO THE ELL TO THE NO!!!!!!!!!!

Once I came to from a dead faint, I told her that I was sure (not at all sure) in this world of a million options there had to be a reclining sofa that didn’t look like grandpa’s house.

And you know what? There kinda is. In fact, these sofa’s are pretty cool… well, for recliners!!

Tibet Sofa – This looks like it would even be comfortable to sleep on, for really couching out. Unfortunately I found it difficult to get a lot of info on it.

Motorized Ellie Sofa – Anything is instantly better when it’s motorized. It’s like, “I’m so high tech even my sofa is controlled by an app.”

Valpo Reclining Sofa – A 3 seater!

Altea Sectional – Super customizable!

Natuzzi Volo – Uhm ya, this sofa radiates cool factor. So sleek and modern.

What do you think about a reclining sofa? Have you ever owned one?

I’d probably opt for a few reclining, swivel chairs instead. Or let’s be real, I’d laugh in my best I care what you think laugh, and then buy the sofa I really want. Insert husband head nod here…and maybe an eye roll…if I’m not looking.

But it is good to know that there are sofa manufactures out there helping to make marriages just a wee bit happier.

And for that, we’re thankful.

Glass Panels!

Hi!

Wanna come over and see my new doors?!

Actually, they’re not entirely new, but oh my gosh, they feel sooooo different!!

You can see how they simply removed the door trim and changed out the damaged glass.

There is a bit of patching and painting that needs to be done but What. A. Difference.

Maybe it doesn’t seem like much in the photos, but the light in the entry has completely changed. It’s so much brighter. And the doors look more modern now.

Although, I have to confess that a bit of me was sad to see the tulips go. If they weren’t cracked then I know I would have kept them… I just keep imagining that the kids who grew up here (their parents built the home) will come over and be devastated that everything has changed – even their beloved tulips…which their grandmother had picked out…and now she’s dead…and then they would hate me and spit on the lawn…

It could happen.

And now that I’ve written down the words, it probably will happen. FML.

Sooooo, back to the doors. If you’re interested in having something like this done and you’re in the LA area definitely call Flash Glass! They did a perfect job – and I NEVER say that. They made the panels in 2 weeks and installed them in 30 minutes.

I got to see the panel during production to give a thumbs up!

Now I can check that off the todo list!!
